My New Wreath

Aunt Suzi (my brother's wife) made me a new wreath for my front door. She had made one for herself and I asked if she could make me one. It is soooo cute and springy looking.

Thanks Suzi! You are so talented!

6 Month Check Up

EMH had his 6 month check up today. Just as we knew, he is a big boy! He weighed 19.6 pounds and he is 28 inches long. He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. Like our Dr. said, at least he is proportionate. He got a good report and is doing great!
AEH really enjoyed the visit. She is fascinated by doctors and it is one of her favorite things to play at home. As you can tell from the pictures she was close at hand during the whole visit. She doesn't like seeing anyone hurt and in pain. In fact at his 4 month check up, I think she cried harder than he did and she repeatedly told the nurse to stop. Well, when the time came for his shots, she decided that she would just hold his hand. :) She also decided that she would take his sucker for him.
Juju met us there and helped out and afterwards we did some shopping. It was a fun afternoon.
SLH met us at Cheddars for dinner because Meme had told me that they have Monte Crito's and I love them. I use to get them at Bennigan's many years ago. Ooooh, I am telling my age. When I ordered it the waitress said that they had been out of them all day. :( I was so disappointed! I guess they are a good and popular item. We'll just have to go back soon.

Wagon Fun

Aunt Bobbie (Meme's sister) was in town visiting last week. She is so giving to the kids and while she was here, of course she wanted to get them something. AEH had never gotten a wagon and she wanted one for she and EMH. As you can tell from the pictures, she likes pulling him just as much as riding. We were able to get out this past weekend when the weather was so nice and let them enjoy their new wagon. Thank you Aunt Bobbie!

Speaking of the weather...it was pretty nasty last night. Our sirens went off and we all took cover in the closet for a little while. EMH never knew he was out of his bed and in a closet...he slept right through it. AEH is afraid of bad weather and got to sleep with us last night. We didn't have any damage but several trees were down in our neighborhood along with some damage to fences and a trampoline that had found its way into a neighbors yard. I think we are in for more tonight and tomorrow. Tornadoes are at the top of my list of fears. We lived in a neighborhood several years ago that got hit really bad. We only had minor damage but we were at home and we heard it. We definitely respect what they can do and always take the warnings seriously. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who suffered damage from last night's storm.

We have EMH's 6 month checkup tomorrow and I can't wait to find out how much my big boy weighs. I think we are going to have to get out of the infant car seat after tomorrow's visit. AEH stayed in it and barely got out of it at a year. :)

Have a great weekend!

First Spend the Night Company

AEH had her good friend and "sister" MC ( AEH calls MC her pretend sister) over last week to spend the night. AEH had spent the night with MC a few weeks ago and of course the girls loved it and were ready to do it again.
We met at Pizza Inn for dinner and then it was off to our house for some fun. We let them play and stay up a little later than normal since it was Spring Break and since they had nothing to do the next day.
We gave them a chance to sleep together but after about 30 min. of them talking and getting in and out of bed, we decided we would have to split them up. MC slept with me and SLH went and slept with AEH. MC had a brief moment of wanting to go home but it didn't last long. She fell asleep and was fine the rest of the night. Don't they look so cute and innocent. :)

SLH went and got donuts for breakfast and brought them back home before going to work.

They enjoyed some coloring...

swinging...

but I think this was their favorite... blowing bubbles in each others faces.

MC cried when leaving Friday afternoon because she wanted to stay and as they were leaving AEH said "my sister is leaving"...in such a sad voice. They had a great time! I'm sure we will have many more to look forward too.

The Pampered Princess

AEH had a fun day today being a Pampered Princess! JuJu was trying to think of something fun to do during spring break and who better to call than Aunt Suzi. Aunt Suzi always knows about fun places and fun things to do for us girls. She suggested "The Pampered Princess" that just opened. JuJu called and made an appointment for AEH to have a manicure and as AEH calls it a "pedicare". She wasn't to sure about it at first and when they were getting out of the car she said "I just want to look first". She always says this when she is not sure about something (hence her first dentist trip).

I had gotten out of hibernation (from being sick the last few days) and was doing some much needed errands. Well, when I found out about this, I couldn't resist stopping by to check it out. I had not planned on this today so they probably thought mommy needed some pampering. JuJu said the same thing because AEH spent the night last night and she wasn't able to get ready like normal.

When I walked in AEH had quickly decided that she definitely wanted to try this. She got a "pedicare" and a manicure first and while she was being pampered she got to nibble on some hostess snack cakes and some delicious red punch. Then she decided to get, what they call an "up do". I laughed because even when I just brush her hair at home she whines and complains that it hurts, but when they were putting those bobby pins in her hair, she made this strained face and did not say a word. Oh, what they will do for someone else. :)

As we were paying and getting ready to leave AEH spotted some necklaces for sale and just had to have one, even though we have several at home that look just like it...JuJU is such a sucker. :) AEH told JuJu as they were leaving that it was "just perfect". She had a great time and I recommend it if you have a girly girl. By the way they do other things to like facials, massages etc...just bring your credit card. :)

Aunt Bobbie (MeMe's sister) is visiting this week so EMH had a fun time being the center of attention and getting lots of hugs and kisses from them and yes, I did get several errands done.

I wanted to take a picture of the finished product and AEH posed like this all on her own. The workers took a picture too and asked JuJu to sign a waiver because they may use it for advertisement. Who knows we may see AEH on TV. :)

No Nap for Mommy Today

JuJu came and picked up AEH today for some one on one time with her. They had some fun things planned from the Science Museum to her favorite eating place, McDonald's. She asked JuJu at the Museum if she could buy one of the snakes and it wasn't one in the gift shop. YIKES!! My child really doesn't understand my fear of those things.

Well that left EMH and I to decide how we would spend our day. EMH usually takes a short nap in the morning and a long one in the afternoon, but today he did the opposite. The long morning nap did give me a chance to dust, sweep, vacuum and mop the dining room and living room and it is so much easier to clean or do anything with one child instead of two.

It feels so good to at least have one room cleaned.

After EMH woke from the morning nap, he played in his exersaucer and jumperoo and then ate some lunch. After lunch we played a little with some of his toys in his room and then I could tell he was getting sleepy. So I rocked him for just a few minutes and he was sound asleep. Yea, now I'm thinking of taking a little nap myself. I have been sick this weekend with a bad sinus infection and a nap would be great, especially on a dreary, rainy day. I spent about 15 minutes checking e-mails and then I go get in the bed, that never got made this morning... I think I was planning this nap from the time I woke up this morning.:) I was in the bed for about 5 min. and I hear on the monitor what I feared...EMH waking up. I went in 2 times and put his pacifier in and turned his lullabies on and well let's just say my nap wasn't meant to be. Oh well, the medicine that I am taking makes it hard to sleep anyway.

This is how I found him the third time. He was definitely not wanting to nap anymore.

AEH is spending the night with JuJu and Granddad and SLH is picking up Nagoya for dinner. I am so excited! I have not been able to taste food for two days now and I am really wanting their caterpillar roll. Sounds good, huh. It really is. :)

Well, that's how our spring break started out. Gotta go, EMH is calling...he's probably ready for that afternoon nap, now. :)

Update: Sure enough I put EMH is his swing and he is out cold at 5:45 p.m.

Happy Birthday Granna and Bonnie!

Today is Granna's Birthday. She and Granddaddy live in Tennessee. We wish we could celebrate with you! AEH and SLH got to spend some time with them a couple of weeks ago and they had a blast! We love you and wish we could see you more often. We Hope this next year is a great one!

We have another birthday today and it is our youngest dog, Bonnie. Bonnie is 8 years old. It was just another day for her. She ate, slept and followed us around. Bonnie is such a sweet dog. She has never acted or attempted to snap or bite anyone. We all say that you could take a piece of steak out of her mouth and she wouldn't do anything. She is afraid of children and always has been, even before our children (she's just even more afraid now) :) She just keeps her distance and watches from afar. I have to give her an allergy shot every 10 days. I hate doing it but we think it is helping her. She doesn't like it but she takes it and moves on. A unique characteristic Bonnie has is her tongue. It is very long and too long for her mouth. It sticks out most all the time. We love you Bonnie and we think your tongue it cute!

Bonnie was being a little shy getting her picture made.

A Little of This & A Little of That

Not much was going on at our house this past week. Just a little of this and a little of that. We were able to get outside some...playing with friends at the park, the kids had a picnic with JuJu on Wednesday, SLH and I played some tennis this week, and the kids went to Meme and Ampy's on Sat. AEH got to see Ampy kill, as she says, "a real snake". Ugh, it is that time again...snakes are on the move now that the weather is getting warmer. I am terrified of them and always have been. I didn't even like typing their name.

Picnic...AEH is sporting JuJu's sunglasses.

EMH is almost able to hold his own bottle, and as you can tell he likes it!

AEH playing dress up.

Some pictures outside after church. AEH took this one...

and EMH was not in the mood for a photo shoot.

We'll see what this next week brings. I have a full tank of gas so I think it's safe to say that we won't start this week like last week. I actually topped my tank off when I already had half of a tank. :) By the way...every time we pass the place that I ran out of gas, AEH mentions in some way what happen. She said on the way home from church today "Isn't that the house (which actually is a business) where we ran out of gas". SLH got a good laugh out of that. AEH is never going to let me forget this one!

As for now, I'm off to try to get in a good ole Sunday afternoon nap! :)

Oh, What a Monday!

Well I can't believe I'm going to admit this, but while I was on my way taking AEH to school this morning...I RAN OUT OF GAS! HA! However, it wasn't funny at the time. I was stopped for just a few minutes because of a wreck and my car did something funny and I actually thought the person behind me bumped me, but when I looked back they were not even close to me. So, the police officer motioned for the traffic to continue and as I was going over the railroad tracks(oops) I realized that I was OUT OF GAS! I made it across the tracks and pulled into a business and CALLED SLH. YIKES!! He laughed and couldn't believe it. We were trying to decide who to call and guess who got the honors. My friend HB! I called her and told her and of course she laughed too. She loaded her two boys up, got the gas can, went and got some gas and came to our rescue. HB made a bump in my morning as easy as possible. She was there in no time and we were on our way. Thanks HB! We GOT GAS immediately and I took AEH on to school. While we were waiting for HB this was the conversation (if you can call it that) in the back seat.

AEH - "EMH, we runned out uh gas"

EMH - "Huh!"

I just laughed and thought how funny for her to tell him and think he cared or understood and how on cue his "huh" was. All he cared about at that point was that he had not had his morning bottle yet and he was HUNGRY!

Guess what? A post with no picture!! Needless to say I didn't have my camera in my car and I had definitely not planned on this. Wouldn't that have been great...a picture of HB in her pajamas putting gas in my car. A little bit in my defense, if you will...my gas light is not reeeeeally that easy to see. Okay, I know not a good excuse and if you know me then you know I am a fairly organized person. I don't remember ever doing this before, really. Oh well, it happened and it worked out fine. Thanks again to HB. I definitely owe you one.

Okay, I'm off to see what the rest of the day holds! Ha!
